I didn’t always know that I wanted to be a journalist. But even from a young age I knew whatever I did in life I wanted to share stories.
My grandmother won’t let me forget (it’s sweet though) when I used to cut cardboard boxes into “television sets” and pretend I was a news anchor in front of my family members.
My goal of being able to share/tell stories eventually led me to join the newspaper at my high school and although I decided not to stick with my student newspaper, I had found my future career.
When people asked me why I wanted to be a journalist I used to say “I like to talk and gossip so I’d love to be paid for it.” I don’t say that so much anymore but the sentiment is the same. I’ve always wanted to have a career that gives me the freedoms for something I would have been doing anyways.
There won’t ever be a time when I won’t be writing and talking about the news.
Currently I am studying broadcast journalism and political science at Boston University and I’m an Executive Producer for the BUTV10 morning news show “Goodmorning BU”.
